White River National Forest Plan Update
The White River National Forest Plan is expected to be published in November/ December 2001. The BSA was involved from the beginning of the revision process. We provided valuable input that was incorporated into many of the Alternatives including preferred Alternative D. Although we do not know which Alternative will be chosen, over 14,000 public comments were received on this forest plan and those concerns were considered by the Forest Service in making a final decision on the plan. Details can be found at http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/whiteriver/. The BSA will summarize the final alternative approximately 60 days after its release.
Note that the Travel Management Plan was separated from the Forest Plan. A draft document is expected to be released next spring or summer. The public will have approximately 60 days to voice opinions on this document. The BSA will carefully examine this document and provide information for our members to make comments.
