Lewis Hut Plans Terminated
January 4, 2001 --- The Board of Summit Huts Association and the Representative of the Estate of Harry T. and Margaretta B. Lewis have mutually agreed to terminate plans to construct the proposed Lewis Hut in Stafford Gulch.
In accordance with the wishes of the Lewis family, the funds originally contributed for the Lewis Hut will be forwarded to the University of Denver for the Harry T. and Margaretta B. Lewis Endowment for Scholarships in the School of Accountancy.
Summit County Open Space is negotiating with SHA to purchase the 35 acres parcel.
