Volunteer Opportunities
The BSA is blessed with an invaluable resource - the volunteers who spend hour after hour helping us in our efforts! If you would like to volunteer with us, we would love to hear from you. We’re always looking for volunteers who can donate anywhere from an hour of time (for a glamorous job like stuffing envelopes!), to an entire weekend of time (for something like the Vail Pass project).
We need your help!
Specific positions include:
Vail Pass Ambassador’s Program - These volunteers will educate the public on the new program being implemented by the BSA, the snowmobiling community, and the Forest Service. Volunteers will be responsible for noting the boundaries, providing maps to users, and communicating to the Forest Service as to how well users are respecting the new boundaries.
Fundraiser Committee – Yes, we just got done with the last one. But it’s never too soon to start ramping up for next year. Volunteers will be responsible for attending meetings for the overall planning of next year’s fundraiser.
Graphic design work – We're always looking for help with a number of design projects including newsletters, annual reports, advertisements, posters, and post cards.
BSA Skills Series – Beginning in November, we'll be looking for people to help organize our annual winter backcountry skills series we run in conjunction with local outdoor shops. We’ll also be looking for people who are knowledgeable about backcountry related topics to be speakers / presenters. 6. Working BSA tables at related backcountry and outdoor events; for example, the CAIC Avalanche Jam.
Please contact Ben Fibbe if you can help: ben@backcountryalliance.org.
Summit County needs your help!
Specific volunteer positions include:
Surveys and Data - Passing out trail monitoring surveys and collecting data at trail heads.
Trail Markers – Posting “No Snowmobile” signs along trails in the Upper Blue region of Summit County. Please contact Ellen Hollinshead (summit@backcountryalliance.org ) if you can help.
Steamboat needs your help!
Specific volunteer positions include:
Ambassadors: These volunteers will educate the public on the new program devised by the Forest Service, noting the new boundaries, providing maps to users, and communicating to the Forest Service as to how well users are respecting the new boundaries.
Trail Markers: These volunteers will put up signs outlining boundaries and trails. 3. New Trail Designators: These volunteers will do reconnaissance on Buffalo Pass to determine new trail locations.
